I recently finished How to be Parisian Wherever You Are. Aside from losing my mind on the train after their Instagram handler commented on the AMAZING picture I posted of my copy of the book, I actually learned a few things. Firstly I have always known I’m different, but what I did not know, is I’m French. It’s clear to me after reading this book that my parents have lied to me. Lipstick to the grocery store on Sundays, obsessing on EBay waiting for that one investment piece to bid on, boyfriend new boyfriend, generally not making sense and not caring to at all, this book was amazing. So I decided to take matters into my own hands regarding my face. Its important, when being French, to look like you did not try, ESP while buying baguette. No Kim K contouring, not lashes, it’s about BB Cream and a lip you like.  So here are my beauty picks, keeping it simple like the Parisian I am…

I approached the Sephora check out line with the intention to return the YSL mens scent I bought in my attempt to be a tomboy last week, not because my friend referred to it as, " Sheer department store," while the boyfriend described it as, "having a bite at the end,"but because I hated it ;)...  The sales clerk quickly high-fived me as I told her I wanted to return it. She then proceeded to say, "girllllll we ALL have boy problems." I had two choices, 1, tell her I've never been happier in a relationship and that this was just a result of my fashion flippancy and attempt to be different, or 2, play into it. "I know, I hate men, I'm returning his sh*t after our last fight," I said. Long story short, were friends now, and go pick up what I got while, "returning his sh*t."

So I must admit I’m in the midst of a minor obsession with Alexa Chung. I'm Probably late on the uptake,seeing as she’s been featured everywhere for years now, but I had always labeled her as annoying, UNTIL, I got her recent book IT. It’s witty, chic, and filled with amazing film images, taken by Alexa.  I really like when you can get a feel for a persons esthetic through their work, her book does exactly that. From the perfect cat eye, to her almost flawless execution of tomboy meets 12-year-old girl ensembles, it stays true to a very specific style that has made her so coveted. Chung spoke to Vogue.com about the launch of her own brand, another exciting thing coming in 2014. It will be interesting to see how the star translates to a wider audience in the commercial fashion arena. For now however, getting a piece of Alexa Chung’s fashion can be done by snagging something from her makeup collaboration with the London brand Eyeko.

As the newly minted beauty contributor at  The Wild Magazine, I think it’s appropriate to share the 10 beauty essentials I feel every woman must have. For anyone that knows me, there are two things I have minor obsessions with: Agent Provocture Lingerie and Sephora. It’s pretty safe to say that any given Sunday afternoon, I'll be in either place playing with the newest products. That said, Sephora is hands down my go to place for two reasons. Firstly, they let you return anything and everything after using it. Who does that? It’s incredible! If you buy something that made your face weird, or just wanna be a cheapo, you can at Sephora! I went through their inventory and picked out exactly what’s in my medicine cabinet. I think makeup should be simple, clean, and minimal. Ladies, focus on your actual skin and taking care of that, not on covering imperfections! Products aside there is one more SUPER important component to makeup. Eyebrows! As the snow falls here on the streets of New York City, so too do the spring 2014 couture collections in Paris. Most notably for me this a.m. was waking up to images of Chanel. The pastel creations paired with sneakers, (tying back to my “Sneaking Away From Heels in 2014,”) were more than inspired.
