Dear Karlie Kloss, I'm Sick of Your Face

Dear Karlie Kloss,

I respect that fact that you are one of the most beautiful girls in the world, that you have “limbs that could kick Jesus,” and you even make nice jeans. However, I’m writing to inform you I’m really sick of seeing you’re face, EVERYWHERE. Each month I get a new Vogue hoping to see the newfound talent that they deem worthy of the editorial pages, but it’s always YOU. And I feel you; you’re like a fine wine, gets better with age …but what’s wine without cheese sometimes?  A little variation, you know? You can’t answer that question because it was very clear to me after I saw your nude spread in Vogue Italia, you have probably never tasted cheese. Maybe this is more a profession of my love for you and your discipline; I like cheese, a lot.

You probably don’t remember that time we met. You were strutting through Nolita like the Amazon princess you are; casual, alone, I said “hi” and walked by; it was hugely relevant. What I'm saying Karlie, is I’m a fan of yours, always will be, but right now can you stick to making “Karlie’s Kookies” somewhere dark and pressless, and let someone else get an editorial? That is all, stay tall!

Best Regards,

Claire

P.S. If you ever find yourself in a bookstore, please pick up a copy of my memoir titled; “I Put Whip Cream On Someone & They Weren’t Mad.”

Ahanoir NYFW Party; "Wait, you said $250,000 Vibrator?"

Ahanoir had their NYF14 launch party last night in Chelsea, at a still unclaimed retail space, on the corner of 15th and 6th.  The scandalous adult brand filled the room with bins of toothbrushes, along with 15 or so glass cases sporting the latest sex toys. Their PR rep, excitedly told us that one of the vibratiors was worth $250,000 as she handed up gift bags filled with small whips, dildos, lube, and some bizarre looking green drink, for stamina of course. I could have done without the naked old man running around with a burning sage stick, but over all I’m super down with this sexy brand on the cutting edge of online retail exclusivity. xxx

I know fashion week is really hard. You have to walk in high heels through the polar vortex all the way to a taxi. You have to go shopping in SoHo because all the girls you used to call basic showed you up hard-body with their Gucci Gucci Louis Louis Fendi Fendi Prada. You're loosing brain function and nerve synapses aren't firing properly due to low levels of blood sugar and fatty acids. You're pissed all the time.

If eating properly and rejecting consumer culture aren't your modi operandi, you'll need to find new ways of remaining calm and healthfully stimulating your mind during NYFW. You can start by seeing Different Distances: Fashion Photography Goes Art, a beautiful photo exhibit currently on display at Aperture Gallery, 547 West 27th Street, 4th Floor New York, NY 10001.

love,

Chandler

10 Beauty Products Every Woman MUST Own

As the newly minted beauty contributor at  The Wild Magazine, I think it’s appropriate to share the 10 beauty essentials I feel every woman must have. For anyone that knows me, there are two things I have minor obsessions with: Agent Provocture Lingerie and Sephora. It’s pretty safe to say that any given Sunday afternoon, I'll be in either place playing with the newest products. That said, Sephora is hands down my go to place for two reasons. Firstly, they let you return anything and everything after using it. Who does that? It’s incredible! If you buy something that made your face weird, or just wanna be a cheapo, you can at Sephora! I went through their inventory and picked out exactly what’s in my medicine cabinet. I think makeup should be simple, clean, and minimal. Ladies, focus on your actual skin and taking care of that, not on covering imperfections! Products aside there is one more SUPER important component to makeup. Eyebrows! I have recently discovered eyebrow tinting, its vegetable based dye that makes your brows super full and lush, the perfect accent to flawless skin! Boom Boom Brow Bar in Chelsea is my monthly haunt. Check it out here!

I rarely leave performances so impressed that I tell all my friends, but after seeing Quincy Vidal, you almost have to spread the head-bopping joy. The Musical duo is determined to bring back 90s R&B and Hip-Hop, and is making a significant impact by “taking ears,” all over NYC, and soon possibly the world, as they are top ten in a Grammys performance competition. With the release of their new video “Pillow,” produced by Nick Von Gremp and premiered today by Vibe.com, they showcase what it means to make music that has been missing since an era we all loved so much. Quincy Vidal answered a few questions just for Style&Air, get to know Le’Asha and CE here, as well as watch  "Pillow" their music video, Enjoy xxx

Style&Air.com is centrally based around fashion, has the fashion in any way influenced your music?

Le'Asha: Fashion influences my live performance. It gives me a certain attitude and that automatically allows me to connect with the audience in a confident way. Which in turn allows my flow to come out different. My live performance is always different than the recordings.

CE:  We've always been compared to those classic 90's hip hop groups and I personally think that it's not only our music that gives people that vibe. It's our style as well, our demeanor. We sort of exude that boom bap feel through how we dress in videos, at performances, and in life. And like Le said, it gives us a certain confidence that allows us to deliver in a specific way. We embrace that comparison, because that's what we love. The fashion aspect as well as the music aspect.

Dream collaboration dead or alive who would it be with?

Le'Asha: J Dilla

CE: Le said my number 1. So I'll say Erykah Badu. These questions are always so damn difficult to answer.

How did you two meet?

We met as freshman at Purchase College in 2008. We were both students in the Acting Conservatory there. Freshman actors at Purchase have to work costume crew for the upper classman productions, and we were assigned to the same production. That's when we came up with the idea for QV, and as result became really good friends. We started working on our first album a little over a year later...in a dingy ass apartment in Clinton Hill.

You said money is second to “the ears you get to listen to your music”, what can we anticipate with the release of the new album in terms of performances? Will you be going on the road?

This new project is something pretty different. We've had a certain formula with our first two albums, and it's pretty safe to say that this is a break from that formula. It's a double album, in the style of Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which means our performances are gonna be pretty unique for the next few months. We'll do cuts from each side, but it won't be like Le goes, and then CE goes, and then Le goes, etc. etc. We're a group, so whenever one of us does one our own cuts, the other will be right there making sure the audience gets the full QV experience. And of course we'll still be doing crowd favorites like 123, Tired As Shit, Pillow...all that.

As far as the road, we've considered it. We desire it badly. Our biggest setback however, is the ends. As soon as we feel that we can financially handle a tour, best believe we're gonna make that happen. That's high up on our list of things to do.

What’s the first thing you would do after receiving the call that you are performing at the Grammys?

Le:Asha: First thing after we get the call, I'll call my mama and we'll scream together.

CE: Same here. I dunno about the screaming part though...my mom would probably scream...I'd be in shock. Then we'd go get beers and celebrate like shit.
